Lowell Sturm

Lowell Dean "Chuck" Sturm, 60, of Oakland died on Saturday, May 15, 2021, in the comfort of his home, following a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 24, 1961, in Bridgeport, WV, he was the son of Barbara Carolyn Sturm of Oakland and the late John E. Sturm on June 24, 2020.

Lowell was an ironworker for the majority of his professional life, having worked for numerous companies in the area. He was well known for his skills in fine metalworking, which he constructed many small and large specialty hand rail pieces, some of which were shipped throughout the country. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting at his cabin in Philippi, WV. Lowell was part owner and sponsor with his best friend, Greg Tressler, for Super Late dirt track racing. He was able to spend the last three years doing what he loved most.

He is survived by his lovely bride of nearly 32 years, Tonya K. (Bray) Sturm; his sons, Cain A. Sturm and wife Caitlyn, of Bruceton Mills, WV, and Cory J. Sturm and girlfriend, Katelyn Bartus, of Pittsburgh, PA; his sister, Lou Ellen Lichty and husband Steven, of Oakland; his aunts, Georgia Allen and Shirley Witt; his mother and father in law, Roger W. and E. June Bray, of Deer Park; nephew, Jesse Skipper and his children, Jadyn and Ian Skipper; his canine companion, Dub;  and numerous extended family members and friends throughout the area.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 5 to 8 PM and on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will held with Pastor Bob Bonser officiating.  In accordance with Lowell’s wishes, he will be cremated following the service.
