Lineer Richins

Lineer G. Richins, 81, of Oakland, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his residence. In accordance with Lin’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1022 John Drive, Mountain Lake Park, Maryland 21550.

Born on August 2, 1937 in Lordsburg, NM, Lineer was the son of the late George and Lenore (Richardson) Richins. Lineer graduated from Yuba City High School in 1955 and continued his education at Yuba College and Sacramento State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. During his college years, Lineer was a chess state champion. He also participated in track and field and was a Northern California state champion whose only defeat was to future 1960 Olympic gold medalist, Jack Yerman.

Lineer was employed by F. B. Hart Company for 30 years and later continued his career working at the Sacramento Truck Center. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in the Bishopric. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a scout master for six years. Lineer loved cars, sports of all kinds, and was well known for his wonderful sense of humor.

Lineer is survived by his bride of 21 years, Nancy Richins; his children, Michelle Richins Summers and husband Brad, David Richins and wife Laura, Jennifer Richins Higdon and husband Patrick, Debra Richins Whittle; grandchildren, Wade Wagner, Winston Wagner, Wesley Wagner, Waylen Wagner, Lauren Wagner Scaife, Nate Richins, Caroline Richins, Cate Richins, Camille Richins, Megan Hamilton, Brenna Higdon, Ryan Hamilton, Brittney Summers, Ricky Shepherd, Alex Whittle, Beau Whittle; great grandchildren, Oliver Wagner, Hux Wagner, Adeline Wagner, Noellah Wagner; siblings, Thelma Richins Upshaw, Betty Richins Burke and Lucille Richins.

Through his marriage to Nancy, he is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Richins and a sister, LeRay Richins.
