Linda Martin

Linda Marie Martin, 62, of Aurora went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 28, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Linda was born on May 17, 1953 in McKeesport, PA.

Linda was a teacher at Aurora Elementary School for 38 years and took pride in her community. She was a member of AFT. She graduated from California University of PA and obtained her master’s in education from West Virginia University. She was an EMT for Union Ambulance Service for several years. She worked with the summer reading program at Aurora School and took part in the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital bike-a-thon for several years. Linda was a passionate teacher and loved all her children. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with friends and family, especially to the beach.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elmira Marilyn Brown and father-in-law James Willis Martin.

Linda is survived by her husband James (Dave) Martin of 34 years. She is also survived by her father Russell Brown of Elizabeth Township, PA, sister Susan Brown (Aaron) of Elizabeth Township, PA, and brother Russell Brown (Tina) of Liberty Borough, PA. She is also survived by step-son David Martin II and granddaughter Brooke of Aurora, son Danny Martin of Aurora, and daughter Robin Betler (Chris) of Morgantown, WV. Linda is also survived by mother-in-law Virginia Martin of Aurora, sister-in-law Sue Mayne (Jim) of Aurora and brother-in-law Tom Martin (Debbie) of Rowlesburg, WV. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Aurora Elementary School 125 Aurora School Drive Aurora, WV 26705.

Friends will be received on Tuesday June 30, 2015 from 2-4 &6-8 PM at the Aurora Memorial Building, Aurora, WV. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Aurora United Methodist Church with Pastor Cheryl George officiating.  Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.
