Linda Jean Lewis, 77, of Eglon, WV, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on February 18, 1948, in Philippi, she is the daughter of Claude W. Winters and the late Bonnie Jean (Miller) Winters.
Linda graduated from Aurora High School, and then obtained her Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia University. She was very involved in her community, following in her mother's footsteps as the Eglon Mountaineer 4-H Club Leader, and taking over writing of the Aurora-Eglon news for area newspapers. She was a member of the Eglon Homemaker's Club, and a very active member of the Maple Spring Covenant Brethren Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, and crafting. Linda was very interested in the history of the community and her church and she also enjoyed researching the genealogy of her family.
She is survived by her father Claude Winters; two daughters, Julie Baker and husband Gary of Virginia Beach, and Sara Lewis of Morgantown; son-in-law Chuck Young of Martinsburg; grandchildren, Grayson Baker, Madison Baker, Noah and Carter Young; siblings, Carl W. Winters (Nancy) of Colorado, Rebecca McCollum (Paul) of Kentucky, and Mary E. Norwish (Richard) of Eglon.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Young; and her husband Thomas Lewis.
Linda's request to be cremated will be honored and a celebration of life will be held March 22, 2025 at 11 AM, at the Maple Spring Covenant Brethren Church with a meal to follow.
