Leroy E. McWilliams, age 83, of Eglon, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020. Born on April 9, 1937 in Union District, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Virgil and Viola (Shillingburg) McWilliams.
Leroy was no stranger to hard work as he grew up on a farm in Aurora, WV. As a young man, he developed a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility to his family and community. Leroy worked as a laborer and manager for Fairfax Materials for over 50 years. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed walking in the woods and spending time at the hunting cabin. Leroy enjoyed planting gardens and watching plants grow. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redhouse.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (Bachtel) McWilliams; a daughter, Lorie Adams and husband Pat; grandchildren, Sarah Long and husband Sean, Brandon McWilliams, Philip Adams, Joshua Adams and Luke Adams; siblings, Lenora Flowers and husband Buck, Linda McGinn. In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death a son, Roderick McWilliams and a brother, Leonard McWilliams.
