Leroy Dawson

Leroy James Dawson, 86, of Bayard, WV, formerly of Elk Garden, died on Friday, July 26, 2013 in the Oakland Nursing & Rehab Center. Born on May 2, 1927 in Nethken, WV, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lillie (Oates) Dawson. He was a member of the Elk Garden United Methodist Church and former member of the Elk Garden Fire Dept. Leroy retired from Allegany Wood Products. He is survived by two grandchildren, Deanna Rublee and husband Daniel of Oak Grove, KY and Thomas Dawson of Romney, WV; four great grandchildren, Haley, Brady, Delaney and Landry Rublee; and a sister, Nora Knotts of Kitzmiller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella (Kitzmiller) Dawson, in 1987; an infant daughter; two sons, Timothy and Frederick Dawson; two sisters, Elizabeth and Hetti; and three brothers, Howard, Henry and Carl. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, July 30th from 10 to 11 A.M. at which time a funeral service will be held. Interment will take place in I.O.O.F Cemetery, Elk Garden.
