Leonard Yanoff, 63, died on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va. A resident of Sterling, Virginia, he was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Yanoff of Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Jane Germain; one daughter, Marla Yanoff Webber, of Forest City, NC; one son, Jason Yanoff, of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Ronald Yanoff, of Chicago, Il; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Yanoff was a graduate of the engineering program at Devry Institute of Technology. He began his professional career in the early development of telecommunications and information technology with AT&T/Bell Laboratories at the age of 19. He was recognized as a pioneer in the filed of telecommunications. Mr. Yanoff worked for ITT and Alcatel Data Networks for many years before opening his own computer business. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
The Reverend Dr. Chip Lee will preside at the service on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd Street, Oakland, MD.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens
