Lawrence “Gene” Evans, 75, of Horse Shoe Run, WV, passed away on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021, at Cortland Acres in Thomas, WV. He was born on February 3rd, 1946, to the late Lawrence and Nellie (Rembold) Evans.
He was the owner of Gene’s Repair Shop and worked countless hours doing what he loved. Gene was a member of Mt. Top Cruisers Car Club and Fairlane Club of America and a very proud owner of 3 antique cars that he loved to show. Gene and Lois spent over 20 years traveling and attending car shows.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lois Frances (Hauser) Evans, whom he married on April 6th, 1969. Also surviving a daughter, Melinda (Evans) Lewis and husband Jeff of Oakland, MD; two grandchildren, Evan Lewis and Serena Lewis both of Oakland, MD; one sister, Carolyn Ayers and husband Turman of Kingwood, WV; in-laws, Delores and Jack Snarr of Raphine, VA, Lawrence and Kim Hauser of Blissfield, MI, and Kay Hauser of St. George Island FL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a brother, Bernard Rembold; a sister, Barbara Evans; two brothers-in-law, Robert DeWitt and Ralph Hauser; and a sister-in-law, Rowena Damron.
Friends will be received Friday, March 12th, from 4 to 6 PM at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 PM with Rev. Mike Lantz officiating. Due to covid restrictions, face mask and social distancing are required. The Hinkle-Fenner funeral is honored to be of service to the Evans family.
