Lawrence Stonebraker

Lawrence Douglas "Buddy" Stonebraker, 56, of Elk Garden, WV, died on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at his home. Born on September 30, 1967, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of Juanita (Johnson) Stonebraker and Thomas Gowans of Oakland and the late Lawrence Douglas Stonebraker.

He was a graduate of Elk Garden High School and a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served for eleven years with time on the USS Saipan. He was Pentecostal by faith and attended the Elk Garden Assembly of God. He was also a member of the Elk District Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years and a member of the Redman. He was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was coach of the Elk Garden Softball team. He loved beach vacations, riding four wheelers with the guys, and gathering at the family camp on the South Branch.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancee, Katie Jones; children, Dougie (Alicia), Kristyn (Jeremy), Seth, Haylee, Chloe, and Carlee; twelve grandchildren; and a sister, Kellie Stonebraker Nelson (Deryl).

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marshall G. Johnson and Kathleen (Alkire) Johnson; paternal grandparents, Henry and Hazel (Simmons) Stonebraker; and special uncle, Robert Denton Stonebraker.

Friends will be received at the C & S Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller, MD, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM and at the Elk Garden Assembly of God on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10 to 11 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Greg Moreland officiating.

Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery.
