Kyoko Takasawa Welch, 80, of Oakland died on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at her home. Born on April 1, 1934 in Sendai, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Shenago and Tatsumi Takasawa. She was a member of the USO and met her late husband, Roy, while he was stationed in Japan and moved, with him, to Maryland in 1957. She was known by her family as having a reason for everything and being firm in her decisions. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Lynn Welch of Michigan, Margaret Ann Welch-Kroll of Oakland and Rebecca Jane Welch of Hagerstown; six grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Smith, Stephen Christopher Plaskey, Ryan Andrew Kroll, Alex Michael Plaskey, Trevor Royce Kroll and Dakota Roy Lambert; a great grandson, Jaxson Isaiah Cole Smith; and and former sons in law, Robert Plaskey, Gary Kroll, Bobby Smith and Shayne Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bert Welch, in 1985. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, March 1st from 2 to 6 PM and on Monday, March 2nd from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HART for Animals, PO Box 623, McHenry, MD 21541.
