Kevin Moore

Kevin Moore, 63, of Keedysville, MD, passed away on December 21, 2024, at his residence in Canaan Valley. Born on November 20, 1961, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Robert and the late Teresa Moore.

Kevin is leaving behind a legacy of love for nature and his family. A dedicated forest ranger and wildland firefighter for the Maryland DNR and The Nature Conservancy, he graduated from Allegany College of Maryland with a degree in Forestry. Kevin was an active member of the Heart of Highlands, Audubon Society, and Friends of the 500th. His passions included cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, boating, and rafting, but his greatest joy was found in the company of his wife, daughters, and granddaughter, traveling the world or working on projects for family and friends. A beloved figure in Canaan Valley, he was known for his genuine kindness and commitment to helping all and sharing his skills. Kevin will be deeply missed by all who knew him for his dedication as a husband, father, son, and friend, and his life will continue to inspire those who cherish the natural world.

In addition to his father and Deborah, he is survived by his loving wife, Susan Moore, to whom he was married on September 20, 1987; two daughters, Amy Moore Thomas and husband Christian of Keedysville, MD, and Jennifer Moore Collins and husband Eric of Lovettsville, VA; his granddaughter, Lena Thomas; and his brother, Neil Moore of Smithsburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers, Kevin's family would most appreciate a donation to the Heart of the Highlands, an organization dedicated to building and maintaining trails in Caanan Valley.

Mr. Moore's request for cremation was honored. There will be a celebration of his life held at a later date.
