Kenneth "Ken" Henry Savage, 82, of Oakland, MD, passed away on October 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. Born on June 20, 1940, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Stanley Gilbert and Grace Alice (Keefer) Savage.
Ken served our country in the United States Army. He loved to work; he and his wife, Nancy, operated Savage Greenhouse for many years in addition to his full-time jobs. He would also do landscaping and other work on the side. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, mowing his yard, and gardening. In his younger years, he loved playing softball and horseshoes. He also enjoyed being in his shop and doing carpentry projects. He made beautiful furniture and his house was full of his handiwork. He was very handy and could fix almost anything. He loved big family dinners and was a jokester who would tell crazy stories. Ken loved to be with family and friends, didn't know a stranger, and was always ready to strike up a conversation with anyone.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Carol (DeWitt) Savage, to whom he was married on December 23, 1963; four daughters, Christina Lynn Zavala and husband Pio, Kimberly Sue Wiles, Tracey Renee Horner and husband Donnie, and Jennifer Marie Wilson and husband Josh; eleven grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Shannon, Bobby, Maria, Alycia, Corey, Alec, Emma, Elias, and Bella; nine great grandchildren, Trey, Adeline, Tyson, Tayah, Rowen, Aslynn, Addie, Macy, and Madden; and two sisters, Thelma Bowers and Carolyn Cogley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Keefer, Sr., Cliff Savage, and Clinton Savage, and two sisters, Geraldine Wolfe and Betty Cooper.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. 21 N. Second St. Oakland on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 4 to 7 PM and on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 11 AM to 12 PM.
