Kenneth Marshall "Babe" Hottle, 95, of Elk Garden, WV died on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Cortland Acres in Thomas,WV. Born on August 10, 1921 in Davis, WV, he was the son of the late Jacob and Florence (Wilfong) Hottle. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and was a POW. He had retired from the Potomac Lumber Co. after working in the saw mills for over 50 years. After a long days work, he loved going to the Jones farm to lend a hand. He is survived by four daughters, Margaret Day of Grantsville, Jane Stewart of Elk Garden, Rita Braithwaite and husband Bill of Elk Garden, and Tammy Gillaspie and husband Dave of Elk Garden; eight grandchildren, Crystal Hall and husband Brad of Chesterfield, MO, Brandon Day and wife Jodi of Ridgley, WV, Marshall and Louie Stewart, Samatha Jackson, Kenny Braithwaite, David and Brandi Gillaspie, all of Elk Garden; five great-grandchildren, Lacy Bowman, Matthew and Jordan Stewart, Sophie Hall and Hadley Day; one great great grandson, Brantly Bowman; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette (Droppleman) Hottle, in 2015 and all of his siblings. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Saturday, September 3rd from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, September 4th at 2 PM with Pastor Lee Robertson officiating. Interment, with military honors accorded by the Oakland American Legion Post #71 and the Deer Park VFW Post #10077, will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Babe's family would like to thank the entire staff of Cortland Acres and, especially, the staff on "B" wing for the wonderful care given to Babe.
