Kenneth Junior Biser, 77 of Oakland, MD died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. WV.
Born August 19, 1932 in Silver Lake, WV, he was the son of the late Kenneth U. and Rachel (Dawson) Biser.
Kenneth was a normal student attending high school in Garrett County when the Korean War began. He was forced to take part in the war when he was drafted out of school to join the Army. Even though the war took time away from his life, he did not regret his service. After serving in the Army, Kenneth was awarded three ribbons, American Defense, German Occupation and Good Conduct. Later on, he was able to finish one of his goals by completing his schooling. Mr. Biser was a coal miner for nineteen years with Island Creek Coal Company until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Edith M. (Britton) Biser; three sons, Kevin Biser and wife Brenda (Burns) Biser of Oakland, MD, Kenny Wayne Biser and wife of PA, David Wayne Biser of Gorman Rd., MD; two daughters, Patty (Biser) Aronhalt and husband Ron of Loch Lynn, MD, Angie (Biser) Spaid and husband Ron of Eglon, WV; two brothers Wayne Biser of Deer Park, MD, Clifton E. Biser of Beverly, WV; two sisters Betty Wilburn of McHenry, MD, Carolyn Lawton of Mt. Airy, MD; eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, 3075 Maple Spring Hwy., Rt. 24, Eglon, WV. with Rev. Debra Strawser and Rev. Gary Meeks officiating. There will also be viewing at the church Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service. Interment will follow in Eglon Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
