Kathleen W. "Kathy" McCullough, 61, of Oakland, MD, died on Monday, December 30, 2019, in Sarasota, FL. Born on March 21, 1958, in Baltimore, she was the daughter Vincent Jerome Wieman of Sarasota, FL and the late Ann Marie (Newett) Wieman.
Kathy graduated from high school in 1976 and went on to work for the federal government. She held positions with a number of different agencies starting with Fish and Wildlife and including Justice and Management & Budget under the Reagan administration. While working full time, Kathy completed her college education and graduated from the University of Maryland with high honors in 1993 with a BS degree in Business Administration. Retiring after 25 years of service with the federal government, Kathy, her husband and son moved to Garrett County where she enjoyed working as a substitute teacher and volunteering for the many activities and sports in which her son was involved. She will be lovingly remembered for always going the extra mile to support her son. In addition to spending time with her family, Kathy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, loved reading her bible, golfing with her husband and friends, reading, and watching the Hallmark channel. She particularly enjoyed the ocean and palm trees and had a talent for landscaping and decorating her homes.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, John W. McCullough; her son, Matthew J. McCullough of Oakland; two sisters, Patrice Eller and husband Michael and Maureen Rankin; a brother, Steven Wieman and wife Kari; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael George Wieman.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2ND ST, Oakland on Sunday, January 5, 2020, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 318 E Oak ST, Oakland on Monday, January 6, 2020, at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Matthew Paugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Steele Cemetery, Friendsville.
