Kathleen Johnson

Kathleen June Johnson, 88, of Oakland died on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home.  Born on October 30, 1928, in Everetville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Darius Clyde and Commella (Speck) Alkire.  She graduated from the former West Virginia University Demonstration High School and had worked as an aide for Torrance State Hospital in Blairsville, PA.  She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Mt. Storm, WV.  In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.  Kathleen is survived by her children, Juanita Stonebraker and companion Thomas Gowans of Oakland; Ruth Stalnaker and companion Tom True of Deer Park, Marshall Johnson and wife Sandra of Gormania, WV and Donna Johnson and companion Larry Bircher of Elk Garden, WV; a special granddaughter, Dion Ryan; grandchildren, Lawrence and Brenda Stonebraker, Kellie and Deryle Nelson, Larry Bircher, Jr., Jolene and Brad Rippey, and Marshall and Amy Johnson; fourteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, HollyAlkire and wife Mary of Daytona Beach, FL; and multiple nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Paul Whitehair and Nancy Greenly.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Guy Johnson, Sr., in 1967; a sister, Evelyn Whitehair; and two brothers, Darius Alkire, Jr. and James Alkire.  According to her wishes, Kathleen was cremated.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements and condolences may be left for the family at www.csfredlockfh.com.
