Karl Hamrick, born on December 29, 1955, tragically passed away on May 20, 2024. He was a man of unwavering faith, a devoted family member, and an ardent lover of the outdoors.
Karl is survived by his two brothers, L. Joseph Hamrick of Summersville, WV, Anthony Hamrick of Fairmont, and his sisters, Myrna (Hamrick) Dietz of Mt. Lookout, WV, and Karla (Hamrick) Jose of Fairmont, WV. Karl leaves behind several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, friends and extended family who will forever cherish their memories of him.
Karl's life was anchored in his faith. He placed God at the center of everything he did, finding solace and strength in prayer. His unwavering belief sustained him through life's trials and triumphs.
The great outdoors beckoned to Karl like a siren's song. Bass fishing was his passion, an art form he pursued with fervor. From the serene lakes of Appalachia, he crisscrossed the country, seeking that elusive hookset. When the sun dipped below the horizon, and the water mirrored the sky, Karl felt closest to God. Nature, with its symphony of wind and water, was his sanctuary.
Later in life, Karl's adventurous spirit propelled him beyond borders. He explored Russia's snow-kissed landscapes, marveled at China's ancient wonders, and reveled in the vibrant chaos of the Philippines. His eyes absorbed cultures like sponges, and his heart expanded with each encounter. Karl understood that life was a tapestry woven from threads of diverse experiences, and he wove his own with gusto.
As we bid farewell to Karl Hamrick, we remember his infectious laughter-the kind that could light up a room-and his unwavering faith-the bedrock of his existence. But most of all, we recall the joy he found in the simple act of casting a line into the water. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us: to seek God, to cherish family, and to embrace the great outdoors.
A celebration of Karl's life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11 AM in the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland.
