Julius Kinser

November 27, 1939 — July 28, 2015

Julius E. "Sonny" Kinser, 75, of Oakland died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland. Born on November 27, 1939 in Vindex, he was a son of the late Julius E., Sr. and Freda (Knox) Kinser. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had retired from the Garrett County Roads Department. He was a member of the Walnut Bottom Assembly of God in Swanton and, with his love of singing, was the song-leader of the church. He loved spending time with his friends and family. He could always put a smile on your face and was the life of the party! He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Roberta (Paugh) Kinser, to whom he was married on June 30, 1962; three children, Timothy Kinser and wife Janet of Frostburg, Tammy Dewitt of Oakland and Thomas Kinser and partner Paul Whitman; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; four brothers, Harry Kinser and Doug Kinser of Pennsylvania, Eric Kinser of Hagerstown and Norman Kinser of Ohio; two sisters, Diann Morris and Freda Mumma of Pennsylvania; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Ben, Dave, Bub, Tommy, Marvin and Gary Kinser. A funeral service will be held in the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, July 30th at 11 AM with Pastor George H. Tichinel and Pastor Jimmy Bentley officiating. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Turner Cemetery, Walnut Bottom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
