Julianne Sages Turrentine, 73, passed away on June 14, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, at the Goodwill Retirement Community in Grantsville. Born on July 2, 1950, in Uniontown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Sages and Evelyn Rossi Sages.
Julianne obtained her Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and her Master's degree in Voice Performance from WVU. She began working as a music teacher, and then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving 20 years, becoming Chief Master Sergeant, and Superintendent of the Singing Sergeants of the U.S. Air Force. After retirement from the U.S. Air Force, she worked as a glass artist. Other achievements included Past Director of the Garrett Choral Society and sitting on the Garrett Arts Council. She was also a very active member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Shelton "Moe" Turrentine; a brother, Harry M. Sages; a sister-in-law, Lois Rossi; and special niece Alyson Rossi; several other nieces and nephews, and other relatives; and her most trusted and lifelong friend, Karen Smitsky, whom she met at WVU being suite mates, worked together throughout the years and spent the last few months side by side.
Julianne's wishes to be cremated have been honored. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Oakland, MD, on June 29, 2024. A celebration of life will begin at 11 AM, with Pastor Tom Omholt officiating, followed by a reception. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, is honored to be serving the Turrentine family at this time.
