Judith Ann "Judy" Wilt, 71, of Oakland died on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on January 26, 1945, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George E., Sr. and Goldie R. (Twigg) Speis. Judy graduated from Allegany High School in 1963, and graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1972. She was employed as a nurse for 20 years at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. After retirement she was employed as an office nurse for Margaret Kaiser, M.D. Later, she was employed as a nurse for Hospice of Garrett County, the former Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, and the Garrett County Board of Education as a school nurse. Judy was a former member of the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad and a member of the Southern Republican Women's Club. She was a professional photographer having done numerous weddings and school student photos. Judy was also a member of the Garrett County Historical Society. She is survived by her husband, H. Wayne Wilt of Oakland; one daughter, Dr. Jodi L. Nichols of Swanton and her fiance, Toby Eirich of Cumberland; two grandsons, Camden W. Nichols and Linden M. Nichols of Swanton; two brothers, George E. "Butch" Speis, Jr. and wife Karen of Martinsburg, WV, and James Speis and wife Sherry of Cumberland; two sisters, Nancy Bowers and husband Joe of Cumberland and Kathy Reinhart and husband John of Berwyn Heights; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia "Peach" Buchholtz. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, January 1st from 1 to 4 PM and at the Loch Lynn Church of God on Monday, January 2nd from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Ivan Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cindy's Fund, PO Box 182, Oakland, MD 21550, The Garrett County Historical Society, 107 S. 2nd St., Oakland, MD 21550 or to a charity of one's choice.
