Judith Ann (Higgins) Swinson, 70, of Oakland died on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on June 14, 1943 in Parkersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late George Sr. and Lillian (Wells) Higgins. The world has lost a great woman who gave of herself selflessly while taking care of her son George, who was handicapped, from birth until his passing at the age of 35. Judy had attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was a strong woman, having overcome a shattered leg in seven places, cancer and corrective eye surgery. Most importantly, not one day in her life did she have a bad word to say about anyone. She supported her family no matter what happened with her smile and dry sense of humor. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Bob Swinson; a son, James Swinson of Oakland; three grandchildren, Jesse Swinson and Courtney Swinson of Oakland and Angel Swinson of Texas; three brothers, George Higgins, Jr. and wife Annie of FL, Steve Higgins of Parkersburg, WV, and Greg Higgins and wife Terry of Belleville, WV; and 58 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, George "Link" Swinson. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 12 Noon in the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland with Pastor Mark Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
