Juanita Skeweris

March 29, 1930 — October 23, 2014

Juanita Virginia "Chick" Skeweris, 84, of Oakland passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 29, 1930 in Kempton, she was the daughter of the late Marshall T. and Bertha E. (Knotts) Lewis. Mrs. Skeweris was a homemaker. Before her illness, she was known to feed both friends and strangers alike; she loved to cook. Chick was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gorman Fire Department. She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Sanders and husband Don of Oakland; three sons, Rich Skeweris and wife Vicki, Rob Skeweris and Randall Skeweris and wife Missie (DiSimone), all of Oakland; seven grandchildren, Travis, Austin, Isaac, and Brylee Skeweris, Tim and Brent Sanders, and Misty SanJulian; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Cole, Kody, Morgan and Kameron Sanders, Maria and Andrew SanJulian, and Bry and Justin Chidister; two step great grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi Flanagan of Oakland. On October 21st, her family's fifth generation was born, Brody Michael Sanders Welch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Pal" Skeweris, in August of 2012; a son, Roger, in 1987; and two sisters, Mayjel Skeweris and Betty Geroski. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, October 26th from 1 to 5 PM and in the Fairview Church of the Brethren on Monday, October 27th from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Chick's family would like to extend a special thank you to Carole Roth for taking such good care of her.
