Joyce Travis

Joyce Caroline Travis, 77, formerly of Pennsylvania and, most recently, of Accident, MD, passed away on November 13, 2023, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born on November 9, 1946, in Susquehanna, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur V. and Evelyn E. (Rose) Tyrrell.

After graduating from high school, Joyce earned a certificate through a nursing program and became an in-home health care nurse. She had a passion for taking care of those in need. She enjoyed cooking, reading, puzzles, flowers, and watching Jimmy Swaggart. She had a daily routine of studying her Bible and keeping a close, personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. She had a special place for dogs in her heart, and loved her pets exponentially. Joyce loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Kerry Gibson and husband Dennis of Mc Henry, and Brenda Shields of Accident; five grandchildren, Jeseca Gibson, Kory Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Lindsey Shields and Eric Shields; two great grandchildren, Kali Gibson and Jace Cabrera; and two brothers, Herbert and Arthur Tyrrell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Norma Ramey, Margaret Bentler, Edna Thompson, Gene Tyrrell, and Anna Mae Hattler.

Joyce's request for cremation was honored. There are no services scheduled at this time.
