Joyce Jones

Joyce R. Jones, age 75, of Oakland, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Garrett Regional Medical Center.

Born on November 1, 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Virginia and Harold Rice, Jr.

Joyce was a graduate of Wheaton High School, Class of 1963.  For the majority of her career, Joyce worked as a legal secretary until joining the staff at RPM Construction where she served as an office manager for over 20 years.  Joyce was an avid reader.  She enjoyed traveling and fondly remembered trips to the beach.  She treasured her family and her dog, Maise.

Joyce is survived by a nephew, Bruce Swift, Jr. and wife Carmela of Oakland; a niece, Barbara Duckers and husband Steve of Toms River, New Jersey; great nieces, Lindsey D. Rolsky and husband Benji of New Jersey, Kaitlyn Bolyard and husband J.J. of Oakland, Samantha Swift of Oakland; great nephews, Stephen "Jake" Duckers of New Jersey, Thomas "Davey" Swift of Oakland; a brother-in-law, Bruce Swift, Sr.; her godchildren, James S. Goff, Erin C. Goff and Nora R. Goff, all of Maryland.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline R. Swift in 2010.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM at which time a funeral will be held.  Private interment will be held in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
