Joseph R. "Rusty" Evans, 40, of Swanton died on Monday, September 10, 2012 in an accident at home on the farm. Born on February 5, 1972 in Oakland, he was the son of Joe A. and Doris Jean (Schrock) Evans of Kearneysville, WV. He worked at New Page for 17 years and recently finished his 5-year apprenticeship in maintenance to become a Journeyman. He loved wrestling and playing football with his son Zachery and fishing and hunting with his father and his sons. Most of all he loved his family and life on the farm. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rachel Knapp-Evans; his sons, Zachery Tyler Evans, age 9 and Braedon Chase Evans, age 5; a brother, Allen W. Evans and wife Melissa (Via) of Kitzmiller; a sister, Tammy (Evans) Shaffer and husband Vincent Scott of Kearneysville, WV; nephews, Dustin James Evans and Matthew Scott Shaffer; a niece, Kayla Ann (Evans) Dolly and husband Aaron; mother and father in law, Patricia and Richard Knotts of Eglon, WV; sisters in law, Kathleen Hamperian and husband John of Morgantown, WV and Charlotte Strawser and husband Allan of Eglon, WV; and a number of aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Otha Evans, Eullialia Evans, Viola Sines Schrock and Gerald Schrock. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, September 13th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 14th at 11 AM with Rev. George A. Tichinel officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
