John Ernest Paugh, 83, of Elk Garden, WV died on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at home. Born on November 19, 1928 in Elk Garden, he was the son of the late Clarence and Maggie (Hickey) Paugh. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post# 3518 in Keyser. He was a retired coal miner and had worked for the Mineral County Board of Education as a school custodian. He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Paugh of Elk Garden; a granddaughter, Tessa Paugh and husband Patrick; two great grandsons, Ethan Nathaniel and Jayden John Paugh; and two sisters, Mary Kitzmiller of Kitzmiller and Mildred Detwiler of Altoona, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle (Jackson) Paugh, in 2000; a sister, Alma Barnard; and two brothers, Leonard and Joe Eddie Paugh. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Monday, July 16th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 17th at 1 PM with the Rev. Bryon Mayberry, Rev. John Friend and Rev. Donald Marple co-officiating. Interment will follow in Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden with full military honors.
