John Jones

John Owen Jones, 80, of Elk Garden, WV, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Born on March 8, 1942, he was the son of the late Samuel Emmett and Elsie Pauline (Hilkey) Jones.

John followed in his father's footsteps and spent his life farming beef cattle. He was a simple man who loved his family and friends dearly. John was a very hard worker and loved to help others. He spent many days riding around Elk Garden on his four-wheeler to check on his farms and friends. John never met a stranger that he didn't turn into a friend quickly. In his younger years, he loved making friends on his CB radio. In his later years, he loved spending time with his grandkids and teaching them how to work on the farm. John was the "rock" of his family and always made sure his wife and children were well taken care of. His family will forever miss his support, guidance and spending Sunday dinners with him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Caron (Stewart) Jones; three daughters, Kimberly Tichnell and husband Paul of Kitzmiller, MD, Lisa Jones Kisamore and husband Nathan of Elk Garden, WV, Kayla Lyons and husband James of Burlington, WV; a son Jeff Jones of Pittsburgh, PA; son-in-law Christopher Henderson of Keyser, WV; three grandsons, Paul Tichnell Jr. and wife Marlaina, Easton Kisamore and Garrett Lyons; two granddaughters, Kylie Henderson and Aubrey Lyons; a great-granddaughter, Addison Tichnell; a great-grandchild on the way; a brother, William Wayne Jones and wife Brenda of Elk Garden; a sister, Linda Schroeder and husband Dick; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Greg Jones.

Friends will be received Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 4 to 8 PM at the Elk Garden Assembly of God Church. A funeral service will be at 1 PM, Monday, August 8, 2022, in the church with Pastor Greg Moreland officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery.
