John Franz

John "Jack" George Franz, Jr. 85 of Oakland, Md, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Western Maryland Health Care in Cumberland, MD.
Born April 26, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John George Franz, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife Agnes (Johnson) Franz and his son John George Franz, III.
Jack was a retired salesman for Sears & Rohrbuck in the Pittsburgh area. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre, was active with Big Brothers and was an avid bowler, active in the Oakland league.
Surviving are his step-sons, Larry G. Williams of Clairton, PA, John Williams of Mechanicsburg, PA, George Williams of West Newton, PA; 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and many, many friends.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD on Monday, July 19, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Entombment will be held privately on Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Lebanon Chapel Mausoleum in West Mifflan, PA.
