John Beckman

John Harry Beckman, 72, of Oakland died on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on September 7, 1943 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Clarence Solomon and Jessie Evelyn (Steyer) Beckman. He was a lifelong resident of Garrett County and graduated from Southern High School. Prior to his retirement, he was a proud member of the Carpenters Union Local 1024. John was a member of the Divine Hope Church. In addition to spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoyed sports and being outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karen "Sue" (Reckart) Beckman; a daughter, Jennifer Cowgill and husband Adam of Oakland; two sons, Casey "Delbie" Beckman and fiancAC.e Sarah Shaffer of Oakland and John Georg and wife Charity of Grantsville; adored and cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Gavin and Brysen Cowgill, Andy Sweitzer, and Alex and Austin Bittinger and great granddaughter, Madison Cowgill; a sister, Vivian Dillsworth and husband Mike of Oakland; and a brother, Fred Beckman of Oakland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Opal Georg. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, October 30th from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in the Beckman-Moon Cemetery, Oakland.
