Joey Eskridge

Joey Lee Eskridge, 80, of Thomas, WV, passed away on January 1, 2025, at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD. Born on September 30, 1944, in Charleston, he was the son of the late Ernest Eskridge and Mary Dorman.

Joey was a Prep Plant Operator for Mettiki Coal. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them the love of the sport. He also enjoyed restoring old furniture, painting vehicles, and was a big time Jeep lover, but most of all his favorite hobby was doo-wop and dancing to the 50's. He was very much forever "lost in the fifties". He never met a stranger and will always be remembered for showing off his 50's room and telling stories of growing up in that wonderful era.

He is survived by three children, Evonne Kuykendall of Loch Lynn, MD, Joey Eskridge and wife Theressa of Kingwood, WV, and Jodi Myers and husband Wick of Aurora, WV; five grandchildren, Stephanie Murphy and husband Fred, Adam Kuydendall and wife Jenn, Wickey Myers III, Ryan Myers and wife Chelsea, and Grayson Eskridge; seven great grandchildren, Caleb, Madelyn, Eric, Cody, Ariana, Jace and Abel; one brother, Bobby Eskridge; two sisters, Lois Fridley and husband Gary, and Kathy Eskridge; a brother-in-law, Lee King; and a sister-in-law, Tammy Eskridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna (Dumire) Eskridge; his step mother Flora Kerwood; siblings; Wanda King, Junior Eskridge, Edward Eskridge, and Betty Manley; a son-in-law, Gene Kuydendall; a sister-in-law, Cora Eskridge, and a brother-in-law, Alan Maney.

Friends will be received Monday, January 6, 2025, from 12 to 2 PM, at the Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Ave, Davis. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Chopper Evans officiating. Burial will be private at the Rose Hill Cemetery, and an additional celebration of life will be held at a later date.
