Joe Sampson Harvey, 85, of Oakland, passed away on October 17, 2024, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on August 25, 1939, in Kitzmiller, he was the son of the late Leroy Sampson and Prema (Martin) Harvey.

Joe was a 1957 graduate of Southern High School. He worked as a machinist at Westvaco Paper Mill from which he retired after 42 years. Joe attended Loch Lynn Church of God and was a member of Woodmen Life. He was an avid race car fan who enjoyed attending races and helping teams work on their cars. He also loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary E. (Bernard) Harvey, to whom he was married on February 14, 1960; two daughters, Barbara Lou Kutchman and husband Rick of Oakland, and Kristi Joy Winters and husband Scott of Terra Alta; two granddaughters, Chelsea Nicole Davis and Brooke Ashleigh Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Junior Harvey and wife Helen, and one infant sister, Shelby Jean Harvey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loch Lynn Church of God, 8649 Gorman Rd. Oakland, MD 21550.

Friends will be received on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Loch Lynn Church of God. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the church with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating.
