Jessie Glotfelty

Jessie Ruth (Bittner) Glotfelty, 79, of Oakland passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Garrett Regional Medical Center.  Born on April 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Myrtle (Uphole) Bittner.  Jessie was a homemaker who had six children in ten years and enjoyed every minute of raising her family as long as she could.  She had a sweet loving voice that was silenced after a stroke twenty seven years ago but her family still remembers her songs and laughter.  She had a very strong spirit and a will for life.  She loved to read and books were her passion.  Jessie is survived by four children, Kimberly K. Glotfelty, Jimmy A. Glotfelty and wife Julie and Bryan B. Glotfelty and wife Wendy, all of Oakland, Douglas Glotfelty of Frederick; grandchildren, Tyler Glotfelty and partner Caitlin Kizielewicz, Jeremy Glotfelty and wife Torie, Devin Glotfelty and wife April, Lyndsey  Glotfelty and wife Megan, Tori Glotfelty, Skyler Glotfelty, Kaitlyn Glotfelty and Lauryn Glotfelty; and the first great grandbaby, Kinsey Joanna Glotfelty; her siblings, Warren Bittner and wife Lynn, Wayne Bittner, Herbie Bittner and wife Barbara, Mary Louise Bittner, Dorcas Kitzmiller and husband Richard, Carol Vance and Loretta Ridder; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by two sons, James and Gary Glotfelty; siblings, Ernest Bittner, Edith Bittner, Janet Duggins and Hazel Stewart.  A memorial service will be held at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Art Evans officiating.  A luncheon will immediately follow at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, 203 S 8thSt., Oakland in the lower level fellowship hall.  Jessie’s family would like to thank all the residents at the Yough Glades Apartments who loved her and made her life joyful; Gregg’s Pharmacy for their care and especially to Ricky who she looked forward to seeing every Friday when he delivered her medication; and to a special daughter-in-law, Wendy, who treated Jessie like her own mother.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Dove Center 882 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD 21550.
