Jesse Harsh

November 23, 1925 — September 9, 2015

Jesse Harold Harsh, 89, of Oakland went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at his home. Born on November 23, 1925 in Eglon, WV, he was the son of the late James Nelson and Carrie Elizabeth (Lantz) Harsh. He had worked as a manager for Southern States for 30 years and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Mt. Lake Independent Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Helen O'Brien (Heath) Harsh, to whom he was married on June 6, 2009; a son, Charles N. Harsh of Oakland; a daughter, Mary E. Teets and husband Bruce of Eglon; two grandchildren, Melinda Stoner and husband Charles Jr. and Tracy Teets; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Nate Stoner; three step-children, David Heath, Karen (Heath) Lewis and Brenda Maffett; six step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; a sister, Berdena A. Hesse of Swanton; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Virginia (Hesse) Harsh in 2008; four brothers, Artennis B. Harsh, Ernest W. Harsh, Wilmer E. Harsh and Melvin R. Harsh; three sisters, Idella A. Rumer, Velma G. Harsh and an unnamed infant. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St, Oakland on Thursday, September 10 from 4 to 8 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 11 at the Mt. Lake Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Eglon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missions Program at Mt. Lake Independent Baptist Church, 1005 Broadford Road, Oakland, MD 21550.
