Jerry Stewart

Jerry Kemp Stewart, 83, of Oakland, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Peace Healthcare at Dennett Road Manor in Oakland. Born on May 26, 1940 in Vindex, MD, he was the son of the late Alston G. and Luicel (Davis) Stewart.

Jerry was a devoted employee of the Republican Newspaper, where he served as the bookkeeper for 42 years. He loved the written word and his favorite hobby was reading.

He is survived by one sister, Shirley "Rose" (Stewart) Kinser; two brothers, Russell E. Stewart and wife Carol, and Wayne Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleonor Goodwin and Margaret Adams; five brothers, Darrell "Sam" H. Stewart, David Allen Stewart, Robert F. Stewart, Alston "Fid" G. Stewart and LeRoy "Tink" Stewart.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Carl Fike officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
