Jefferson Flaherty

Jefferson Jay Flaherty, 58, of Oakland died on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his home. Born on November 30, 1955 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Dr. Robert J. and Macel (Barker) Flaherty. He was employed by Pizza Hut in Oakland for 22 years and had attended Southern High School. He was involved with the Lighthouse of Oakland for 20 years and enjoyed bowling and creating artwork. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Taylor of Swanton; his brother, Michael James Flaherty of Leesburg, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Garrett County Lighthouse, PO Box 116, Oakland, MD 21550.
