Jason Moats

January 9, 1976 — January 31, 2025

Aurora

Jason Paul Moats, Sr., 49, of Aurora, passed away with his family by his side on January 31, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on January 9, 1976, he was the son of Parker and Corinna Moats Sr.

Jason was a proud coal miner for fifteen years. During his time as a coal miner, he was dedicated to his job and rarely ever missed a day. He worked hard each and every day to provide for his seven children throughout their childhoods and continued to help them in every way into adulthood. When Jason was not working, he enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his children and grandchildren, making it a point to show firsthand that family is the most important thing you can have in life. Jason would regularly invite his children and grandchildren over to his home or out to do things with him. Jason was always thinking of others and would go out of his way to shower the people he cared about with gifts that he knew they would love.

When Jason walked into a room, he was the life of the party. He was loud and proud, and always made everyone around him feel his outgoing personality. He had a way about him that made everyone feel safe and loved. He filled every room with laughter and great memories. He had one motive in life, and that was to live it to the fullest with the ones he loved.

He enjoyed hunting, riding the side by side, spending time with his kids and fiancee, Whitney, playing with his grandchildren, going out to eat, trips to the cabin, tending to his pigs, floating on the river, going to football games, and shooting his guns, bows, and blow darts.

He is survived by his fiancee, Whitney Harrison; seven children, Mercedes White of Terra Alta, Jason Moats, Jr., and girlfriend Amber Harrison of Aurora, Jordan Moats and fiance Ashlyn Havers of Aurora, Tiffany Miller and fiance Tyler Amos of Aurora, Justin Moats and girlfriend Alyssa Ogden of Fairmont, Danika Moats of Terra Alta, and Jasana Moats of Terra Alta; fourteen grandchildren, Aaleah Park, Ayonnah White, Addyson Gardner, Liam Gardner, Alea Lewis, Aavea Moats, Jason Moats III, Jayden Moats, Brentley Moats, Aylynn Moats, Damon Beshears, Hazel Moats, Mason Moats, and Ryker Amos; two siblings, Candy Ritchey and husband Tommy, and Parker Moats Jr., all of Aurora; and six nieces and nephews, Erika Ritchey, Kristen Ritchey, Mckenzie Moats, Zoey Moats, Henry Moats, and Lynzie Moats.

Friends will be received on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5 to 8 PM, at the Aurora Memorial Building. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11 AM in the Aurora Memorial Building with Pastor Mark Teets officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.

The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Moats family.
