Jane Katherine Howell, 97, of Cumberland died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Western Maryland Health Center in Cumberland. Born on March 6, 1917, near Bethlehem in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Emma (Harvey) White. She was a graduate of Oakland High School and worked as a housekeeper at Garrett County Memorial Hospital for many years. Later in life, she was a part-time employee of her son, Charlie Hardesty. Jane's children and grandchildren were amazed by her ability and desire to work even up to her eighties. She and her late husband, Elmer, attended Lakeside Assembly of God and later spent many years at Loch Lynn Church of God until they moved to Cumberland, where they attended LaVale Chapel. Jane was thoughtful to all her family and delighted in her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Charles Hardesty and wife Marjorie (Paugh) of Swanton, Nancy (Hardesty) Doerr and husband John of Accident, Thomas Hardesty and wife Janet (Miller) of Bethlehem Road, and Ronald Sisler and wife Bonnie (Miles) of Middletown, MD; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Mabel (White) McRobie of Carrolton, OH; and several nieces and nephews who were dear to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gus Hardesty, and her second husband, Elmer Howell; brothers, Russell, James, Charles, Glen, Bud and Calvin; sisters, Mary and Hallie; a daughter in law, Linda Sisler; grandsons, Carlon Doerr and Patrick Hardesty; and a great grandson, Brian Friend. Friends will be received at the Loch Lynn Church of God, Gorman Road on Saturday, December 20th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Sharon Bernard officiating. Interment will be in the Deer Park Cemetery. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland has been entrusted with the arrangements.
