James Abraham Knox, 82, of Mt. Lake Park died on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on November 15, 1930 in Accident, he was the son of the late Jonas and Esther (Teets) Knox. James was a graduate of Oakland High School Class of 1948. James proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a decorated veteran having been awarded the Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. During his professional career, James was employed as a bookkeeper at Sharp's Chevrolet; an accountant at Garrett County Memorial Hospital; and a bookkeeper at Team One Chevrolet. He retired as a bookkeeper from Metro Tire Company. James also attended Loch Lynn Church of God. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Viola (Wilt) Knox; a daughter, Irene Ringer of Mt. Lake Park; two grandchildren, Cody Boone and Kori Ringer of Mt. Lake Park; a sister, Schrilla Knox of Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; a niece, Carolyn Wiley; and three nephews, Frank Wiley, David Wiley and Robert Wiley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings; Samuel Knox, Jesse Knox, Frank Knox and Clara Wiley. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, February 24 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25 at 10 AM at the Loch Lynn Church of God with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating.
