James Leland Callis, 89, of Kitzmiller died on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the home of his daughter. Born on May 5, 1928, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Larna Clifford and Alma Elizabeth (Filsinger) Callis. He was a graduate of Oakland High School and a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he had been a tire salesman for Glotfelty Enterprises. He was a member of Grafton Mason’s Lodge #11, the Scottish Rite and Shriner’s. He is survived by three children, Dr. Stewart J. Callis of Oakland, Rita Lambka and husband Keith of Kitzmiller, and Robert Callis of Oakland; two grandchildren, Nickolas Callis and Sarah Lambka; a brother, Tom Callis and wife Janet of Mtn. Lake Park; and three stepchildren, Tammy Gragg and husband Jim of CA, Timothy Skinner and wife Robin of Jane Lew, WV, and Tisha Underwood and husband Tim of Glenville, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Mary (Skinner) Callis and Helen (Cullers) Callis, and a grandson, Daniel Lambka. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, December 14th from 4 to 6 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Weese Day officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the combined honor guard from the American Legion Post #71 and Deer Park VFW Post #10077. Private interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton.
