Iva Jean (Starkey) Turner, 80 of Bayard, WV, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Oakland, MD.
Born June 25, 1930 in Valley Bend, WV, she was the daughter of the late William and Mindia (Hess) Starkey. Also, preceded in death are brothers, Robert and James Starkey.
Iva was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She had worked as a nurses aid at the Randolph County Hospital Iva was the recipient of several awards for appreciation of her volunteer work for the Bayard VFD.
Surviving are: husband, Willis L. Turner; son, Steven R. Turner, Middleborne, WV; daughters Billie J. Brown, Petersburg, WV and Lisa A. Turner, Bayard, WV, and special friends Cindy Fletsher and Della Robinson. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 North 2nd Street, Oakland, MD 21550 on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be in the funeral home chapel, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William M. McCallister officiating.
Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
