Iris Maroney

Iris H. Maroney, 90 of Oakland, MD, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 4, 1920 in Beverly, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. Lothry and Louise W. (Powers) Lothry. Also, preceded in death by husband, Robert M. Maroney; brothers-William Lothry, George Lothry and Frank V. Lothry and sister-Monna Lothry.
Surviving are: daughter-Rebecca Maroney, Richmond, CA; brother-Ronald Lothry and wife, Nellie, Terra Alta, WV; sisters-Elizabeth Pache and Gloria Gilbert, both of Big Stone Gap, VA, Ferrell Nine, Reedsville, WV, Caroline Gunning, Kerrville, TX and Doris Lothry of Clarksburg, WV.
Iris had an unparalleled determination to overcome the many medical problems that confronted her over the years. She had absolutely no intention of leaving us without a fight and was valiant in the final round. She will be remembered for her strong and independent spirit and will be missed by many.
The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Oakland, MD, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Father Don Parson.
