Ida Virginia Gower

Ida Virginia Gower, 96, of Oakland passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on January 28, 1922, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Hobart G. and Rosa (Glotfelty) Harvey.  She was a member of the Loch Lynn Church of God and an avid quilter.  She will be remembered as a faithful Christian wife, mother and grandmother who took great joy in spending time with her family.  She is survived by two children, James T. Gower and wife Sharon L. of Wenham, MA and Sharon G. Decker and husband Lloyd A. of Oakland; a son in law, Charles H. Byrd, II of Haymarket, VA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Zelma Bittinger and Inez Kitzmiller, both of Oakland.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Gower, in 2007; a daughter, Patsy W. Byrd, in 2018; brothers, David and Randall Harvey; and a sister, Wanda Lee Harvey. Friends will be received at the Loch Lynn Church of God, 8649 Gorman Rd., Oakland on Saturday, December 29thfrom 10 AM to 12 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating.  Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery, Oakland.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550 or Loch Lynn Church of God, PO Box 2027, Mtn. Lake Park, MD 21550.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland has been entrusted with arrangements.
