Hubert Thomas "Murph" Murphy, 69, of Keyser quietly passed from death to life eternal at his home on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 surrounded by loving family and friends. Murph's battle is over; he fought the good fight and finished strong. His service in God's Vineyard was sincere, and he was a role model to many, and his character is one worthy of emulation. We rejoice in the knowledge that Murph is forever at home with the Savior he faithfully served. Murph was born on April 3, 1943 in Westernport, the son of the late Hubert L. and Ruby M. (Fike) Murphy. He attended Elk Garden High School and retired from Dominion Virginia Power Plant with 25 years of service. Murph enjoyed working in his garage; he was a hunter, fisherman and an avid reader of God's Holy Word. He firmly believed in doing his best at all times, and he instructed others that "be the task great or small, do it well or not at all." He was a generous man and helped others in need as he wanted to share the blessings he felt God had given him. Murph was a man of deep faith and conviction and was a member of Northeast Lighthouse Ministries where he served as Trustee and Treasurer. He was a mighty prayer warrior and believed in the power of prayer. Murph loved his Lord with his whole heart, delighted himself in his Lord, committed his life to his Lord, and trusted in his Almighty Savior. Murph purposed in his heart to follow Jesus all the days of his life, and he was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He truly believed that the Bible was the infallible Word of God, and no one can ever doubt the sincerity of his beliefs and the fervor with which he shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Murph is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Doris K. (Burns) Murphy, with whom he shared a joyous, fruitful and loving home; son, Hubert Todd Murphy and friends Peggy; daughter, Rhonda K. Lyons and friend Dave, all of Keyser; daughter, Hope Watts and husband Jake of Maysville, WV; daughter, Heather Powell and husband Bobby of Keyser; mother-in-law, Verla S. Burns of Keyser; sister-in-law, Sherry Murphy Lohr of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren: Sandra Murphy, Miranda Bothwell, Michael Powell, Ann Marie Powell, and Savana Wilson; four great grandchildren: Nevaeh Murphy Faulk, Leland Murphy Faulk, C.J. Bothwell, and Sophie Murphy Glass; a special child that was like his granddaughter, Carlee Burns; his uncle, Tom Fike and wife Leona of Kitzmiller, MD; two special nephews: Billy Murphy and wife Sandy and Roger Murphy of Fayetteville, NC; special cousin Margaret Reed and husband Junior of Florida; and other numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved and kept in prayer. He preceded in death by his brother, Ronald L. Murphy and father-in-law, Andy A. Burns. Friends will be received at the Northeast Lighthouse Ministries, Knobley Road, Keyser on Monday, August 13th from 1 to 2 PM at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Dale Hipp officiating. A fellowship meal will be held afterwards at the home of Murph and Doris. Cards and condolences may be left at the Memorial Service. Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, MD is handling the arrangements. www.burdockfredlockfh.com
