Helen Kathryn (Mosser) Harsh, 97, of Oakland died on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at her ancestral home near Red House. Born on May 1, 1915 in Red House, she was the daughter of the late Ray E. and Anna (Miller) Mosser. She was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Red House. She graduated from Oakland High School, in June 1934, where she excelled in accounting. She married Earl C. Harsh on September 29, 1934. They lived with Ray and Anna, helping on their dairy farm until 1937 when they joined the workforce at the Fairfield Shipyards in Baltimore. Following WWII, they bought Hervey and Sadie Roth's dairy farm. In 1958 they purchased a dairy farm in Pleasant Valley, where they farmed until Earl's death in 1967. Then, Helen returned to the family farm near Red House to help her father, Ray and her brother, Leland. She is survived by her children, Harold R. Harsh, Sr. and wife Joanne and Gladys Anderson; five grandchildren, Thomas E. Harsh and wife Cathy, Harold R. Harsh, Jr. and wife Jana, Patricia L. Harsh, David T. Harsh, and Theresa Harsh; three great grandchildren, Christopher Harsh, Casey Harsh and Harold R. Harsh, III; and one brother, Ray Leland Mosser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Harsh on April 6, 1967. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, February 26th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and at St. John's Lutheran Church at Red House on Wednesday, February 27th from 12 noon to 1 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Regina Beard officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
