Helen Gnegy

December 18, 1935 — July 9, 2017

Helen Marie Gnegy, 81, of Oakland, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on December 18, 1935 in Maysville, WV, she is the daughter of the late Virgil R. "John"  and Edna R. " Piddle" (Amtower) Jones.  Helen was a graduate of Southern High School and Fairmont State University with a business degree in accounting. A restaurateur by trade, she started her career at the Mount Storm Lodge went on to retire after operating the Cee Dee Restaurant for several years.  Helen was a member of the Mount Storm Lions Club where she was honored as Member of the Year, recipient of the Leonard Jarrett Award and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.  Helen enjoyed traveling, shopping and was a collector of various things.  In her spare time, she would sew and also enjoyed crafting.  Helen is survived by her husband, Jesse Gnegy; two children, Jay Kitzmiller and wife Mary of Deer Park and Teresa Kitzmiller of Oakland; grandchildren, Tina Kitzmiller and husband Stewart , Eric Stullenbarger and wife Vicki, Aaron Stullenbarger and wife Jessica, Josh Geroski, Sarah Stullenbarger and significant other Roy Rinker, Jessica Geroski, Curtis Kitzmiller and girlfriend Amber Glotfelty, Cory Kitzmiller and girlfriend Sharon Cosner; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Stem; two grandsons, Michael Geroski and Carl Kitzmiller; and a brother, Raymond "Jock" Jones.  Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 3-7:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexrode officiating.  Interment will immediately follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.  Condolences for the family may be left at www.csfredlockfh.com.
