Hazel White

Hazel B. White, 94, of Oakland passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on August 1, 1919 in Bismark, WV, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton H. and Eliza J. (Cosner) Lee. She was a life-long member of the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church, where she spread the word of God through her teaching of Sunday School for over sixty years. Hazel was a homemaker, and most importantly, a loving mother. She loved spending time in the sunshine and caring for her garden and beautiful flowers. She is survived by her devoted son, George White of Oakland; two granddaughters, Lori and Amy; step-granddaughter, Tammi; step-grandson, Dave; seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Hazel was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was also preceded in death by her husband, George Franklin White, in 1991. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, August 12th from 5 to 8 PM and at the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church, Old Crellin Rd., on Tuesday, August 13th from 1 to 2 PM. At 2 PM, a funeral service will be held in the church with Rev. Don Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
