Harvey Albert Grass, 71 of Oakland, MD died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Born May 6, 1939 in Danforth, Maine, he was the son of the late Clyde R. and Winnifred F. (Harvey) Grass. He was also preceded in death by his brother Blaine Grass of Lambert Lake, ME.
Enlisting into the Navy when he was 17 years old, he served on the USS Wisconsin and the USS Galveston. Harvey retired as a Lieutenant from Fairfax County Fire Department. He attended Crellin United Methodist Church, was a member of the N.R.A., loved to fish with his family & friends, hunt and was an avid gardener.
Surviving are his wife, Martha (Knotts) Grass of Oakland, MD; by children, Christy Tripp of Hermon, ME, Stephen Grass of Ellsworth, ME, Dianna Werner of Hermon, ME; brothers Douglas Grass of Hudson, ME, Martin Grass of Lambert Lake, ME; grandchildren, Matthew & Jessica Tripp, Logan Grass, Brianna & Danielle Shaw, Michael & Nicholas Werner; and by Martha's children, Susie Harsh, John McCartney, Billy McCartney and their families.
At Mr. Grass's request, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorial donations, in his name, to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department or to the Crellin United Methodist Church.
