Harry R. Rounds, 84, of Oakland died on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on June 2, 1930 in McHenry, he was the son of the late Ivory C. and Florence (Green) Rounds. He was a 1947 graduate of Oakland High School. Mr. Rounds joined the National Guard in Company C 121st Engineer Battalion in June of 1948 in Oakland. He then served the United States Air Force in several capacities, mostly in management. He received two Air Force commendation medals and retired from the Strategic Air Command in 1971 as Transportation Superintendent. He returned to Oakland and worked for several businesses; he managed Manor Builders Supply and Eastern Building Supply. He was most recently the owner of the Battery Warehouse. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joan Ann (Kegley) Rounds; two sons, Rusty Rounds and wife Rachael and Robert Rounds and wife Tonya, all of Oakland; three grandsons, Keith, Seth and Devon Rounds; three step-grandchildren, Terry, Courtney and Julie LaRue; a sister, Annabelle Wilcox and husband Tom of Luke; and a sister in law, Zelma Neary of Mt. Lake Park and her family, including a special niece, Elizabeth Goldsborough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Rounds and two sisters, Dorothy Rounds and Genevieve Bowman. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, October 17th from 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday, October 18th from 1 to 2 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Jason Buckley officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded by the United Air Force and the combined honor guard of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 and the Deer Park VFW Post 10077.
