Harold Eugene Timmerman, 97, of Oakland went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on June 4, 1921, in Pleasant Valley, Garrett County, he was the son of the late Alan and Mabel (Bittinger) Timmerman. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, initially serving in WWII where he spent 16 months overseas. Later, he was promoted to the grade of Sgt. while fighting with the 38thField Artillery Battalion, Second Infantry Division in Korea where he was called to duty in 1950. Harold was a sailboat builder who had worked as a supervisor and builder for the Gordon Douglas Boat Company. He was also a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family and was loved and admired by all. He is survived by his two daughters, Gayle Richter and husband Ron of Oakland and Karen Wagner and husband Larry of Westminster; grandchildren, Brian Richter and wife Gio, Eric Richter and wife Michelle, Jarod Holtschneider and wife Kacey, Lacy Timmerman and Nicole Hileman and friend Kenny McRobie; great grandchildren, Alex Richter, Cody Richter, Tori Richter, Justin Richter, Bryce Richter, Zoey Holtschneider, Christopher McRobie and Matthew McRobie; and a daughter in law, Dianna Timmerman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine (Madigan) Timmerman; a son, Roger Timmerman; and his brothers and sisters. Friends will be received at the Deer Park United Methodist Church on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 11 am to 1 pm after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Deer Park Cemetery. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland has been entrusted with arrangements.
