Harold Junior Myers, 96, of Aurora, WV passed January 13, 2018 at Dennett Road Nursing Home in Oakland, Maryland. He was born October 13, 1921 in Aurora, WV a son of the late Harold Stanley and Margaret Elizabeth Becker Myers. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Belle Myers, one son, Phillip Myers, three brothers, Odis Allen L. Myers, Homer Stanley Myers, and James Russell Myers, and two sisters, Mary McMillen and Nellie McGrath.
He was survived by his second wife, Katherine Stemple Myers, two daughters, Margaret May Snyder, VA, and Judith Ann Ryder, Alexandria, VA, one sister, Jessie May Fedorow, Aurora, WV, seven grandchildren, Karen Sue Wotring, Terry Ray Myers, Karla Harman, Annette Marie Graham, Stephanie Lynn Snyder, Melissa Hall, and Albert Snyder, 15 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Myers was a World War II Veteran and took great pride in serving his country. He worked as a janitor at the Aurora School for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the farm. He loved reading Zane Grey books and watching John Wayne movies. He was a lifetime member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the church choir. He also served as the caretaker for the Aurora cemetery for several years.
friends will be received Thursday, January 18, at Aurora United Methodist Church from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, the funeral hour, with Rev. Anna Efaw officiating. interment will follow in the Aurora cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
